A butterfly emerges from the gathering of hundreds of human figures. Each individual remains visible, yet together they create a unified form. The work reflects on how identity and affection are constructed collectively: love appears not as a private feeling, but as a shared structure sustained by many.

From a distance there is harmony; up close, diversity. The image exists only through participation, a quiet metaphor for transformation through connection.

About the artist

Francisco Bartus

Francisco Bartus was born in Valencia in 1965 and trained as a designer and plastic artist, beginning with still lifes painted in a modern language. Reading Carl Jung shifted his work towards the idea that our deepest feelings are inherited rather than purely personal, and that has been his subject ever since. He works in mixed media, layering paint until the surface stands off the canvas. He has exhibited across the United States, France, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
