About the artist

JM Reyes

Jose Manuel Reyes was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1963 and is self-taught. He began with realist still lifes against classic backgrounds and refined that into a command of the Andalusian style. The horse and the bull reach him as mythological figures rather than subjects: he catches the gesture and the movement instead of the anatomy, shaped by the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and the fairs of his region. He has exhibited in Madrid, Seville, Granada, Paris and New York.
