A minimalist apartment with a distinctly Mediterranean ease, softened by the restraint of Japandi design: pale oak floors, tailored linen upholstery and a neutral palette that leaves room for the art to do the talking. Six works by four artists move through the space. In the guest bedroom, two paintings by Halley anchor the walls in saturated greens, reds and oranges, their pebble-like forms and looping outlines built up in thick, textured paint. A quieter grey and beige abstraction by Covella, its surface worked almost like stone, sits opposite the television in the living room, while a second, more gestural piece by Fernanz, loose splatters of olive, orange and white, hangs above the bed in the second bedroom. In the kitchen, a still life by Alberto Marquez, watermelon, grapes and ceramic bowls rendered in loose washes of colour and collage, brings a figurative note to a space dominated by matte black cabinetry. The hallway is given over to Covella: a large sunset-toned landscape paired with a smaller four-part series in the same palette, guiding the way from the entrance toward the bedrooms. A panoramic seascape closes the sequence above the headboard in the primary suite, the calmest note in the house.
