Halley
Halley's work is built around colour and good humour, and you can see it from across a room. She was drawn to making things early on, and spent years trying out different techniques before her own visual language settled into place.
Her painting looks at nature, though never head on. She is interested in the beauty of it and in the mystery of it, and she gets at both through vivid colour and loose organic shapes that suggest a form without pinning it down. Colour does the heavy lifting here. It carries the feeling, it sets the temperature of the work, and it decides what you notice first.
What she is after is an open space you can walk into. Her canvases are made to be lived with, and they lift a room without asking anything of it.
