Two familiar droids stand side by side on golden dunes under a pale sky with two soft suns, rendered as gleaming toy-brick figures in oil. Francisco Casas keeps the light calm and clean and adds a touch of humour, so the desert feels vast and playful at once. At 88.9 × 58.4 cm it is a natural fit for a family room, a studio or a collector's study.

About the artist

Francisco Casas

Francisco Casas paints hyperrealist still lifes in oil, on canvas and on wood, working at a small scale and returning often to shells and origami. His command of tone and light is extraordinary, and he handles it with a simplicity that hides the difficulty. He has been awarded several prizes and has exhibited in Seville, Valencia, Alicante and Palma de Mallorca.
