Jesus Llopis

Jesus Llopis was born in Valencia in 1962 and works across painting, sculpture and conceptual art. He graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Valencia, and it was there that he met the artist Amparo Dominguez. What began as two students meeting became a partnership that has lasted a lifetime, personal and artistic at the same time.

Out of that collaboration came Trafic d'Art, the collective through which the two of them develop interdisciplinary projects with an international reach. Their joint work looks at contemporary culture through a visual language loaded with symbolism, emotion and reflection.

Alongside that shared practice, Llopis has built a body of work that is unmistakably his own, and it keeps returning to one subject: transport. Cars, motorcycles, trains and other vehicles appear again and again, though never simply as machines. He paints them as metaphors for movement, communication, progress and the human condition.

For Llopis, technology and mobility cannot be separated from how a society evolves. His paintings think about how fast the contemporary world changes, and at the same time they invite you to notice everyday beauty again, and the optimism and the values that actually connect people. The visual language is vibrant and the colour hits hard, and what comes out of it is an art that celebrates hope, happiness and the responsibility of leaving the world better than we found it.

His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad, and is held in significant private collections. He has received several awards and recognitions over the course of his career.
