Nati Torres

Nati Torres was born in Castellon and has one of the most solid academic backgrounds of any artist we represent. She took her fine arts degree at the San Carlos faculty in Valencia and holds a doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and she has spent her career moving between painting, engraving and sculpture with a command of technique and materials that lets her put practice and concept in the same place.

Poetry is where a lot of it starts. Through it she reaches a mythological world of fantasy and dreams, and she carries that into the paintings as atmosphere: abstract, symbolic, suggestive spaces that hold you without telling you what to think. Her recent collections have turned back towards traditional drawing, with flowers and the natural world as the axis, and the shift has given the work a new clarity.

Alongside the studio she lectures at foundations, colleges and universities, teaches courses and seminars, and has sat on the jury of several art competitions. Her exhibition history is long and international.
