A single artwork, built to order: a choice that turns the whole commissioning process on its head. Instead of finding a piece and making it fit, the collectors started with the wall itself, and the work was built to its exact measure. The result is unapologetically abstract. Sprayed red and orange marks read almost like script against a ground of lavender and broken white, a band of cobalt blue anchors one corner, and a single line of yellow cuts straight across the canvas, holding the whole composition together. Framed in pale wood above a quiet, neutral sofa, it becomes the one point of colour the room needed and nothing more.
