Manel is a contemporary artistic project born from the creative partnership of two Spanish artists, Alejandro Tomás and Alex Calatayud. What began as a shared pursuit of artistic growth and mutual learning evolved into a distinctive visual language shaped by trust, experimentation, and the desire to create without ego.

Rather than merging their individual styles, Alejandro and Alex chose to build something entirely new, constructing it layer by layer. Their earliest works—produced in their shared studio in Valencia—explored texture, light, and silence. Over time, these pieces developed into a refined visual dialogue, where every brushstroke and every empty space holds meaning.

Manel’s works employ mixed media techniques, combining acrylics, oils, charcoal, ink, and natural pigments. The creative process is intuitive and experimental, juxtaposing spontaneous gestures with moments of high technical precision. Layers are subtly applied to explore texture, transparency, and depth, resulting in compositions that balance impulse and control.

In Manel’s philosophy, negative space is not emptiness but an active presence—an area where emotions breathe and viewers are invited to pause and reflect. Their artworks are not simply meant to be seen, but to be lived with: transforming spaces through quiet strength and resonance.
